Summer School - A focus on management and governance
20th-24th May 2019, Officine Garibaldi (Pisa)

Qualitative methods represent a valuable and meaningful research approach in social sciences.

The purpose of this course is to introduce PhD students and junior faculty to the diversity of ways of conducting qualitative research. The course will cover the full cycle of a qualitative research project; from design, to data collection, analysis, reporting and disseminating.

In particular, participants will be introduced to different data collecting strategies (interviews, documents, visual data, observations, etc.), different methods of data analysis (content analysis, ethnography, critical discourse analysis, etc.) and, they will learn how interpreting, evaluating and disseminating the findings of qualitative study.

Finally, a software tool (Nvivo) for qualitative research analysis will be presented and participants will be introduced to the use of it.

Where WE ARE

The summer School will take place in an innovative space that is set up on the first floor as a work area, with offices, co-working stations, training rooms, and on the ground floor a library and rooms for events.
